Hey all,
Getting ready for the big move in a few weeks--thinking about leasing a home in the Waterford Falls Subdivision for the year that we'll be in Bham. Does anyone have any input regarding this area? We have a 1 year-old, so school systems aren't really an issue, but safety, and living in a nice neighborhood are. Hubby will be working at UAB--will he have to go thru any traffic traps during his commute from this area? Any input would be appreciated! + or -!

As a lease, I think it might be OK. The location is convenient and the houses are fairly new. If you're able to spend some time in B'ham I'd drive through there at different times of day and see how the neighborhood looks to you. The main problem I see there is that it is in Birmingham city limits, so zoned for B'ham schools -- much less desirable than Homewood just to the east and Hoover just up the hill to the south.

If you're home with the 1-year-old, I don't know that you'll find many other young families over there. You might be better served in Crestwood or Homewood (although they might be pricier). But check it out during prime strolling hours and see what you find.

Can anybody give an update on this area? We are looking at some homes for sale in the area, but we don't know much about it.

It's not bad. I might consider going up the mountain a half mile to Bluff Park, but you should drive around and see if it passes the sniff test.

Do you know if there are younger families there in Waterford Falls? and Bluff Park is a rather large area, correct?

Bluff Park is pretty good with nearby retail. Waterford Fall, I can't tell you much more than my experienced driving that street.
