Merry Christmas

Posted 12-24-2008 at 02:38 PM by ArmyPoohFan317

It is that time of the year again, and I want to wish everyone a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS! I hope that we can all find ways to enjoy the next few days.

I'm a thinker anyway, but this time of the year always makes me even more philosophical. This week I've been pondering all the changes that have happened recently in my life, and that will be happening in the coming months.

In May I graduate from seminary/grad school and will be moving either to DC or Raleigh. DC is my 1st choice for many reasons. I love politics, US history and city life, so DC has it all! But I need a job that makes living there affordable.

Not only am I graduating and moving, which are 2 huge changes, and looking for a job, but I'm also single again. Sad and exciting all at the same time.

Sad because I really loved the guy and what we had seemed special to me. Exciting because it gives me the freedom to choose where I want to live and not have to worry about how it will affect someone else (my cat is pretty happy to go anywhere!). Exciting, because it means that hopefully there is someone even better out there.

But, as good as change can be, and I think these changes will be good for me, it is also unknown. I don't know where I'll be working or living. I don't know what kind of people I'll meet. I'm pretty introverted in person, so will I be able to make a good, core group of friends? Will I find a good neighborhood that I am safe in, but can afford? Will I enjoy and do a good job at my career?

The future is exciting, but there is always (for me) the underlying fear of the unknown as well. Only time and action can cure that, so I'm praying that 2009 is a great year and the changes are positive ones.

I also pray that in 2009 my friends make it home safely from Iraq, Korea, Afghanistan and all the other places they are stationed. I am so thankful to have friends and strangers that are willing to serve and give up their freedoms, so that I have the freedoms of being an American, and to live where I want, do what I want, and wear what I want.

May 2009 find y'all with smiles and a year that looks to have at least as many blessings as hard times, if not many, many more!!!
