Hi,
I am very new in Boise; I was in a small popular restaurant today a bit before dinner rush time, so there was only me and another couple; the server who I found very attractive brought me the check with a "Thank you and her name" on the back, but no contact information. I wonder if that means anything as far as an indication that she was open to me asking her out, or it's something that nice restaurant workers do around here. I once got a thank you note like that with a smiley, when I bought something online that came from the Midwest.
I noticed people in Boise in general are so much nicer and naturally so compared to the East Coast, so it could be just attentive customer service. Boise locals, what is your take?
I wouldn't dare ask a waitress out (and didn't) especially since so many of the young people here are already married and have kids. I plan to frequent this place often and I wouldn't want to be the guy who took a friendly customer service message and put a wrong twist to it.
Thanks!

I think that's standard operating procedure and I wouldn't take it as any sort of signal. It doesn't mean you can't ask her out but I doubt she was trying to send a message.

Agree.

Waitresses do this all the time for my fiance and me. I'm pretty sure they're not trying to initiate some sort of wild rendezvous.

It's a friendly way to get better tips. It does work. It's not a come-on.

At my local bank branch, they put a handwritten smiley on every single receipt they give me.

I would say I get a Thanks and smiley on restaurant tickets more than half the time.

Just a local friendly thing.

Ask her out anyway! What's the worst that can happen?

everyone is right I like flavia's and I need to visit the local applebees I got a receipt just like this and thought the same thing then decided like everyone else that she was just being nice and doing her job (although out of five guys at the table only my receipt had this treatment) anyway worth a shot right?

She was just probably being nice.

I'm still able to get away with the "I'm new in town...." and women start opening up to me and I have gotten a couple of phone numbers this way. But there are a ton of married/dating people in this town, that's for sure.

She was working for the tip. But if in the future she makes a more overt gesture repost and we'll all give it more thought.
