I had reservations about The Book Thief, since it's in the kids/YA genre. But since people here have been so adamant about how great it is, I added it to my short list. It's not "juvenile" is it? I mean, is it written at an adult reading level?

I read it when I was ~41 years old. I do not read YA books -- I didn't even read YA when I *was* a YA. The Book Thief has made it to my lifetime Top 10. It's THAT good. It's THAT well-written.

I recently discovered something about books in the YA catagory.
Some are required reading in schools so that is where they might get catagorized.

Okay, I just started The Book Thief last night! I already like that the story is told by an outsider who is a non-traditional narrator. Only a little over 100 pages, but so far, I like it! I can tell by the fact that I kept choosing one more chapter over turning out the light and getting to sleep.

I just read the book description of Ella Minnow Pea and it sounds so interesting! I'm definitely putting this on my to-read list. Thanks, all!
