Has anyone ever read this book? A buddy of mine introduced me to this book a few years ago, and it has become one of my favorite books of all time. If anyone here has ever read it, I wonder who do you think Charlie was writing those letters to, and do you think that person ever recieved them?

Haven't read it yet, though I heard it was great. A novel set in the Pittsburgh suburbs right? I asked someone who has and was told that he was probably writing to himself. By the way, congratulations on going home. I grew up there and miss it.

It is a great book! I started reading it and was shocked when they mentioned the Ft. Pitt Tunnels and the restraunt big boy (remember albys?). I had no clue at the begining the book was set in Pittsburgh. If I had to guess by the way he describes where he lives, i think he lived in Dormont. He talks about going to see the Rocky Horror Picture show and I remember there was a movie theatre in Dormont called Hollywood that used to do it.

Thanks for congratulating me on going home, I really missed it too. I'm looking forward to starting over again there.

The Hollywood Theater on Potomac Avenue, I've been there. I think it closed for a long time, but heard it's opened for business again. When you get home make sure you get down to Beto's on Banksville Road. One of the best things about Pittsburgh could be the food, the pizza, the hoagies, the little hole-in-the-wall joints with their great bar food ... Have fun!

I always had a vague idea of some adult-type person that he didn't know well, but had encountered once or twice. Maybe a camp counselor or an old teacher?

he is writing to himself because he considers it a "diary" as he mentioned and felt that a conventional diary made him feel like he was talking to himself, so sending out letters allowed him to create a "relationship" with "someone" whom really didnt exist. BUT he did have a pre-conceived idea of what he wanted this person to be.

This must be a book that speaks to different generations in a different voice. I found nothing at all to like about "Wallflower". I thought it was over the top shock value... It had been compared to "Catcher in the Rye" and to me, there was no comparison at all.

Of note, I am old enough to be Charlie's mom - and apparently that makes me too old to appreciate this book.

I read this book in the 10th grade (in 2008), I'm mad now because I did a project on this book and now I forgot about the letters lol.
