I heard her interviewed on NPR some years ago. Two non fiction, a bunch of novels, all good stuff.

In real life, she's a crime reporter for the Miami Herald. She has plenty to report about.

Linda Howard's books always grab my attention from the first couple of pages, and I hae a difficult time putting them down thereafter.

Also, I have been enjoying Anne Rivers Siddons.

Warning: Neither one of these authors are "smut free", and sometimes, Linda Howard takes it over the top. However, all in all, the stories are so intriguing that I tend to just skip over the outrageous sex paragraphs.

If you like science fiction/fantasy I highly recommend Stephen R. Donaldson's Chronicles of Thomas Covenant The Unbeliever. These were some of the most spellbinding books I have ever read. There are 5 books in the series. Sort of a more cerebral Lord of The Rings.

Also, Stephen King's Dark Tower series. Totally captivating, and not at all like his other works.

I like Robert Parker & James Patterson, also. Here are a few others who can't write fast enough for me!

Dennis Lehane
John Grisham
Harlan Coben
Jonathan Kellerman
Michael Connelly

James Patterson lists his Cross books in order, I did not realize this when I began reading them.

New light read - Dorothy Benton Frank. She makes you laugh and cry and her books are just wonderful reading.

Also, I like Michael Connelly, I began reading him with The Lincoln Lawyer and have not stopped yet. He came highly recommended one day as I was browsing at the local book store.

If you liked action/adventure tinged with a good dose of the supernatural/horror, then the best books out there are the Repairman Jack series by F. Paul Wilson. Start with THE TOMB. You'll be hooked. Nobody is cooler than Jack!

I have been wanting to get Jane Auel's books, i.e. Clan of the Cave Bear, etc. About a young woman making her way in the Ice Age (?) thousands of years ago.

Has anyone else read M.C. Beaton a British author of the English cozy mystery? In the genre of Agatha Christie but with tremendous humor--she can't get her books out fast enough for me. She has her Death of ... series with her character Hamish Macbeth but the series I am personally crazy for is the Agatha Raisin series. This character Agatha is a hoot and a half. She is a well-developed persona and although the mysteries are fun the adventures and misadventures are even better. There is a whole bunch of them and although they don't have to be read in order, I would do so as the story line of the character continues. Start with the Agatha Raisin and the Quiche of Death. Hve fun!

Thumbs up Jodi Picoult, by all means!!

Hi there,

I just skimmed the existing replies, but I don't think anyone has mentioned Jodi Picoult yet. By chance one day I picked up "My Sister's Keeper" - and since then I have bought and read every single one of her books. Some are better than others - but I enjoyed them all immensely. At least three people I have recommended her to have gotten hooked

Particular favorites:

Keeping Faith
Second Glance
Plain Truth

I hope you enjoy this author as much as I do!

Her website is www.jodipicoult.com.
