We're new to MA (we just moved to Worcester from West Hartford, CT in August) and decided to spend the day in Boston this past Saturday.

We wanted to walk around Faneuil Hall, then hike it downtown and wander Newbury Street, and then have dinner at Legal Sea Foods back near Faneuil Hall. (Only if we had cameras strewn around our necks would we have seemed more like tourists, right?? My gosh, even the man we met from Alabama must have laughed at us.)

Anyway, since our last stop was dinner, we decided to park the car right there at Long Wharf. We parked for the day in an indoor lot on Milk Street. Anything over 80 minutes would cost $35.

That was fine, seeing as we were parking for the whole day, but it occurred to us that we were likely parked at TOURIST CENTRAL! COME LET US ROB YOU!, being so close to Quincy Market and the water.

Is there anywhere near downtown where one can park for the day and have it cost less than $35, or is that the norm? (No! I swear that "norm" wasn't a Cheers reference! That would make us pathetic. And old.)

Thanks!

I resent that.

I believe the Gov Center Garage is $10 on weekends, as long as there's nothing at The Garden.

HAHAHAHA... oops! You were my favorite character on the show, though.

Thanks for the parking info. We'll definitely check it out next time.

The post office square garage (Rosenthal Park) and the 1 post office square garage are cheap flat rates on the weekend. Anything directly adjacent to Faneuil Hall, teh acquarium, etc are expensive on the weekend. If you go a little deeper into the Financial district, youc an find ample parking for dirt cheap since the area is a ghost town on the weekend. Honestly, if you get downtown early enough you can usually find a meter in Liberty Square, Franklin, or Oliver St for virtually 0 dollars if you get there early enough.

To add on OP's question, What's the chance of finding a meter parking spot in the Financial Dist on Sunday when meters are free?

Funny, for all the walking around we did -- right through the Financial District, in fact -- we didn't even look at the meters and think that they might be free on the weekend.

Lucky! We really should have done our homework or at least driven around a bit before getting sucked into the easy way.

I wonder if it would have been the same price on Saturday...

The Boston Common Garage (it's under the Boston Common) is typically one of the less expensive places to park.
