A month ago the media was reporting that all the snow that fell in February was being plowed into huge piles 20, 30, 40 feet tall. Now that spring has come, are these snow piles gone? If not, when do you expect them to be completely melted?

My street corners have 7 ft high piles which are now about 4 ft high. Should be there in mid-April.

I noticed the snow banks along some streets which are not as high as the street corners are completely gone in areas with full sun exposure.

Dewey Square and other sun-filled areas are completely melted. My driveway which is shady still has 3 ft snow banks. Those 30 ft piles are in contained snow farms (e.g. unused portions of large parking lots). Those generally don't melt until May or June. The pile at Shopper's World in Framingham was still there in the middle of June when we had that bad winter a few years ago.

In many commercial areas the snow piles along city streets and sidewalks were actually hauled away in dump trucks several weeks ago.

I was in Brighton near BC a few hours ago, and saw some small snow covering in front of small lawns on some side streets still...covering almost all the small lawn but not too deep.

The roads in Dorchester are getting better and passable without a lot of standoff's. There is a snow farm on Tinian Beach that is really getting smaller and cars can park there again. WE SURVIVED

The roads were never really the problem this winter. The MBTA on the other hand...

I can only see one or two bare patches in my back yard. Areas where it was high, it's still around 3 ft tall. And it's disgusting, black and grimy at this point, so not even picturesque any more.

I have a tiny yard surrounded by a chain link fence which many of my neighbors used as a snowfarm for their snowblowers (thanks, neighbors...). It's pretty shady and is down to about 2 feet from the 10+ feet at the end of the last storm.

We still have a pile in our parking lot that's about 6' high and maybe around 8' wide. There is limited sun exposure to that pile but a ton of it has melted.

our streets and sidewalks are much better though, tons has melted but there is still a bunch in some parks. My guess is that it'll be around until mid April. The pile in our pkg lot will be around longer. I'm in Brookline.
