I would like to come to Boston and spend some of my spring break there. What kind of things are there to do in March? I'm a 22 year old male. Are the people there really rude? Is that something that I should worry about? Are there any nice tourist attractions Downtown? Is downtown walkable?

Temperatures in March typically fluctuate a lot. It could be 20 and snowing or it could be 50 and sunny. On average you can expect temps in the low 30's in the morning and reaching 40 by the afternoon. Here's what you might expect (this was from last March). Downtown is very walkable and doesn't shut down unless it's 20 below or if there's 36" of snow in the forecast. You'll be fine in March - just dress appropriately which means layers.

It sucks in March, people are awful, there are a million things to worry about, and all the tourist attractions are expensive with really long lines. Downtown is walkable though.

Because Boston is so near the water, when it snows the flakes are big as pancakes. I wouldn't try for Boston during spring break because they are just as likely to get a big snowstorm in March as they are in December. Then you'd be spending your spring break stranded in the airport.

If you want to do touristy stuff, they will be there: Museums, restaurants, etc. However, you'll miss a lot of stuff that happens in the summer that gives Boston the Boston feel like Outdoor markets and performances on weekends.

It can be hit or miss with regards to weather in Boston. Last year we were inundated with snow from from mid Jan through the end of Feb. This year, so far, we have gotten nearly no snow. The high temps in Boston this week were 55 on Sunday, 64 on Monday, 48 on Tuesday, and 55 on Wednesday. This is not typical for this time of year. By March, the weather starts to turn in Boston. If your break is late in the month, weather will likely not be an issue. Early March could have weather issues but as each day of March passes, the probability of bad weather decreases.

The really great time to visit is in the summer. So if it's a matter of when, do summer. If it's a matter of visit in March or don't visit at all, visit in March. Sure there could be snow, but that's the case for many months. Yes, it could be cold, but put on a coat and gloves. If you're downtown, it is very walkable and public transit will work great for you.

Same kinds of things that there are to do in other months. Google it. Or get a guidebook.

Well, it ain’t as comforting as your momma’s womb but shouldn’t rise to a level of any consideration. In other words, don’t be a nannyboy.

Any attractions? What?!! Read between the lines of my outrage (i.e. YES).

Walkable? Yes, very.

Have fun and don’t forget to pack your security blanket in case someone doesn’t say excuse me as they walk by you. I’m joking, have fun and let me know if you need a hug or anything else to soothe your nerves while here.
