I shop at the Star Market in the Fenway overnight a few times monthly.

I've noticed several times that a black male who handles the bread and bakery area seems unsanitary -- at least to me.

He bakes the bread rolls, then stuffs them into a plastic bag before sealing it and then sticking a label on the bag.

What's the issue? Well, he doesn't wear gloves!

Is this really not a big deal? After all, many Bostonians are eating these rolls regularly without incident... right?

Just pretend I haven't noticed him? I'm sure shoppers at normal hours would notice and perhaps complain to a manager on duty. There's no manager for me to speak with during late hours.

You can call their headquarter's customer service line and report it.

He does not need to wear gloves. This sounds like racism.

It seems like the standard these days is for everyone in food prep to wear gloves when touching food.

On the other hand, when I worked in restaurants, as a cook and food prep, back in the middle ages, no one ever wore gloves. We washed our hands a lot. No one ever got sick that I knew of.

There are regs as to when you need to, and when you don't. I'd be very surprised if putting rolls in a bag was one of the times where you did.

I'm glad you mentioned he was black. Pivotal information to understanding the situation.

I was thinking the same thing. No other description of the man other than that particular piece of info.

You're supposed to wear gloves when touching food that is ready to eat.

no need to say if he's black, white or purple. You should of just wrote a male employee. Call the store and speak to the manager if you are concerned.
