Hello - we just moved to downtown and are in temp housing for a while; we have a son who just turned 5. We have a FT nanny who takes care of him and our 2 year old. Any recommendations for PT programs in downtown?

What's your budget? My wife and I just completed the process of searching for a day care. We saw a huge difference in pricing, even among non-family run day cares. Do you have any other characteristics that you're looking for (bilingual, lunch provided, etc.)?

Im curious how much do these daycares cost? My son will be 3 in may and we use a babysitter part time and my dad...but he's going to need more structure.

What does bright horizons typically cost?

I am figuring budget should be 2k;would love to see if he thrives in a Montessori type environment . We recently moved and in our previous town he was going to the public pre k. He has a hard time making new friends, not sure if that helps

The Bright Horizons in the Seaport is $2,800 per month for toddler care.

I think Bright Horizons costs vary a great deal by location. My wife and I checked out the Prudential location and I think they were asking $3600. (honestly stopped paying attention after I heard the 3.) I think some of their suburban locations are running close to 2k though.

How did you score such a good deal? My coworker was paying over $3k for toddler care there earlier this year. I saw someone on here said the Bright Horizons in Kendall is $4k for infant care

The Sudbury Bright Horizons was $2800/mo for the toddler program when I used them a few years ago. This also makes me wonder how alidmc got the same rate at a Boston location 3 years later. I doubt any locations are much lower than that, even in the suburbs.

I have a 2 year old and I'm on a waiting list for every day-care center. I couldn't even get a call back from Bright Horizon's in Seaport. Child care around Boston is just too darn expensive. I might as well quit my job and run a day care center.

Ridiculous. I do know a few girls who run daycares...i wonder what they charge. A daycare run out of someone's home has to be much cheaper than these ridiculous institutionalized daycares. And what makes them so much better than a nice lady running one out of her home. Especially when the kid is under 2...all they really need at that age is to be fed, held and changed. You know at a place like bright horizons or goddard school with the caretaker/baby ratio they aren't being held that frequently yet your still paying an arm and a leg. And the germs! Soo many germs passed around. The thought of daycare makes me cringe.
