Manchester is 77% non-hispanic white.

comparable (by population) cities in MA: Springfield 51%, Lowell 49%, New Bedford 62%, Brockton 27%, Lynn 48% etc.

Manchester-Nashua metro is 84% white.

Manchester is not diverse. New Hampshire is not diverse when compared to the country. Not diverse doesn't mean every single person is of the same race and ethnicity.

Not just that, even the ancestry is not that diverse. The 3 most common ancestries in NH (Irish English and French) equal 50% of the population. In MA the most common ancestry is "other".

You might do better in metro west area of Boston depending on your criteria for housing etc. Worcester and its suburbs have a more diverse range of political views and are generally less belligerent about being Democrats than those in and abutting Boston. Tolerance goes both ways, though. So it all depends on what behavior you say you can't tolerate from those people on the extreme ends of the spectrum with whom you disagree.
Which city in the MetroWest area would you recommend? Of all the Worcester suburbs, Leominster sounds the most appealing. Which place is better for me, Leominster or any of the MetroWest cities?

Yes.
There is literally a thread just opened in the MA section about the best town for Indian community with good school district. Check that too.

No. I wouldn't want to live there.

I would suggest figuring out your major and finishing your education first, and worrying about where to live later. I don't understand why any of this is relevant now.

From your 'thinking of moving to Denver' thread

Hi there,
And I'm considering to either be computer science major or mechanical engineering major, so I'd like to know which areas would I be able to live comfortably with either of the two jobs I'm gonna end up having.)

I see a lot of people are recommending that guy live in Westborough. What do you guys think about Westborough? Is that a good Boston suburb for me?

Advantages of Leominster (some of them subjective of course):

1. More affordable.
2. More politically moderate (and down to earth in general).
3. Generally more laid back, nicer people.

4. Closer to higher quality outdoor opportunities.

5. Less traffic

Advantages of Metro-West area (again some subjective)

1. More people of your own background.

2. More transient in general and accustomed to outsiders.
3. Better healthcare (and access to Boston healthcare).
4. Generally better amenities, food, etc.

5. Much better economy and access to good jobs (hence why it costs a lot more). That should probably be your number one concern.

I personally wouldn't move to either unless you have an amazing job lined up, or personal/family ties to the area. Just not worth the price imo, and I do not think you have a realistic impression of the place. You really get a pretty poor bang for your buck, and suburban Massachusetts is by and large a cultural wasteland if you are not from there.

It's a good town yes; if one is looking for your typical bedroom community that is family oriented with low crime, excellent schools, decent amenities and a sizable Indian community. Whether it's a good town for "you"...I don't think anyone here can honestly answer that. You would have to come visit in person.
