this happened in revere last month

A man was shoved onto Blue Line tracks in Revere. He landed on his feet and just barely missed getting hit by an oncoming train.

He didn't know the person and it was unprovoked.

And he probably wouldn't have gotten caught if he was wearing black instead of green.

2 for 1 (day). One attempted murder charge for the teen, one for the person he stabbed. He is going to have some time to ponder on his life choices (not he he is going to).

In New York state he'd fall under catch and release.

Good thing in US subway isn’t deep, so people pushed to the track can escape!!!

I don't think that this is true. Blue/Orange/Red platforms are 42, 45, and 49 inches high respectively. That's on par with most of the world and higher than many systems (like the Tube and Paris Metro). I'd guess the key to survival is not having a train arriving at that moment and not touching the 3rd rail. Either of those two things are bad news regardless of platform height. Climbing out of a 42inch pit isn't easy for the average person without some help (though I'm sure anyone else on the platform would help), but there are stairs and/or ladders on the ends of the platforms in case nobody is around. Obviously walking toward the front of the platform is the safer bet.

Regardless, it's crazy that this happens at all. I'm not too concerned about using transit (I do daily), but I have found myself looking over my shoulder and standing back from the platform edge in recent months.
