18+ states allow 17 year olds to vote in primaries if they turn 18 before the general election. Several places in Montgomery country maryland.

I have been hearing about this since HS.
But why ? Why do 17 year olds need to vote. Why can't they just wait until they're 18?

I'm beginning not to care if this even happens. I sometimes wonder what's the point of a 90 year old voting. They have every right and they earned it but they aren't going to be around for the outcome of it.

A lot of 17 year olds are more informed than the Boomers or Gen X. Sad, but true.

But most of them aren't. And even if they are, the vast majority have zero adult experience to put their knowledge into context. You could actually say that about many people throughout their 20's, these days. Knowledge doesn't mean a lot without context and it's not comparable to wisdom.

There's no reason why they can't just wait until they're 18. Someone is just trying to get attention attempting to make this happen

Not quite, this is more of an attempt by local Mugabes to turn Boston into their personal ATM with no withdrawal limit.

Meh, I think its okay. If someone who is 90 years old who has a life expectancy of 2.3 years is able to vote, then a 17 year old with a 62.6 year life expectancy should be able to vote too as their future depends on the votes.

..

Let's be honest though - how many do you think will vote for an actual good candidate over someone who promises free weed and free PlayStations?

Anyone who DOES get married at 18 is likely an idiot.
I think this is a self-fulfilling prophecy. People will act like an immature kid as long as they can get away with it. Give someone a reason to grow up, and they will.

When I was a teen for the 1996 election, i remember "voting" for clinton in a mock election only because he played saxophone, and so did I.

Many kids today don't have a reason to grow up. They are babied by parents. People have less kids today so the ones they have are heavily doted on.

It might be a different story with inner city/trailer park kids...but the world/country doesn't revolve around inner city/trailer park kids.
