Police are going to be held to a higher moral standard than the general public. Even if you don't believe so, it's just a fact whether you like it or not.

Oh i know...but i mean this is a cop stealing some money out of a lost wallet at a casino. I again am just surprised by the attention this has received...if it were a cop getting in a fist fight somewhere, or sexually harrassing someone, raping someone, being with a minor, domestic violence or getting an OUI, I would maybe understand all the negative attention. This story just isn't that interesting so I'm intrigued by all the attention...even here on this forum.

Unless something has changed, I don't see any indication she is going to be fired based on this incident. That's what we've been discussing. She has been suspended for 90 days based on a settlement agreement. And yes, police should and generally are held to a higher standard than the general public--which is a pretty damn low standard.

Boston Police Department's Officer Rebecca Leo was suspended for 90 days without pay. She was accused of stealing cash from a lost wallet found at an Encore Casino while off duty.
Bwaaaaa haaaaa haaaaaaa haaaaaa!! Good Lord how dumb is it possible to be?

Well criminals often get second chances too. I honestly don't care if she is hired back or fired. I know of a few Boston firefighters who had cocaine issues, failed drug tests, resigned and were hired back. I kind of thought they should be taught a lesson...but they were hired back.

I dont know the circumstances here...again maybe this woman was under the influence of something and feels awful about what she did. Is it fair to take back people who failed drug tests but not take back someone who made a one time mistake with taking something that wasn't hers that someone lost?

plenty of people are getting free money and being taken care of quite well by the state today. I kind of don't care that a cop took a $100 bucks out of someone's wallet that they lost. this state is becoming a cesspool as it is. Why bother holding cops to a higher standard at this point? lol*

again being drunk or on drugs will do some things to ya. I'm guessing 30 year old Rebecca Leo was not sober.

Exactly my point. And you probably missed the addition to my last post where I said the general public standard is now pretty damn low. This was personal misconduct not professional and we don't know what the circumstances are. It's easy to say she should be fired but if the underlying facts don't legally support that, the city will end up spending lots of money only to have the decision overturned by civil service years down the road.

this just feels like small potatoes in comparison to other things the city/state/media should be dealing with. But liberals love to distract themselves with these stories.

I'm sorry you think that stealing is small potatoes. Especially by one in a position of public trust. This wouldn't have become such a big discussion here, were it not for all the people defending her.

I don't know if I'm included in this, but I want to point out that in no way did I defend her behavior and don't recall anyone doing that--although I'm not going back to review the whole thread to refresh my memory.
