got a text message today from City of Boston CU saying "my account was in jeopardy" and to reply ASAP. I figured "CU" meant credit union, so didn't reply since I'm not a member of any credit union at all. well, I google the name and learned several people (even non members) are getting these emails and text messages.

anyone else getting them? I find it weird I got one since I left Boston almost 18 months ago (kind of worried how they got my number, but they could just be "cold texting" any cell w/ a MA area code)

anyways, here's a heads up, DON'T REPLY, it's a scam!! (may be stating the obvious, but figure I'd pass it along)

Thumbs up Thanks for the head's up eevee!

I used to get these all the time, probably because my cell phone number is so easily available. In fact, I made the decision to eliminate texting from my account because of it. I still get phishing attempts via email. What's really scary is how real some of these phony account pages look--they use the company's logo, same text, etc. so that the entry page looks JUST like the real thing. Thanks for the head's up banks and credit unions simply don't send emails to tell their customers that there's a problem with the account...

hmmm...I got the same text. Thought it was weird too. However, my cell phone number is easily found on the internet. I didn't reply. At least I know I wasn't the only one that thought it was weird.

I moved from Boston last December and just started getting these emails. A possible trigger? I had an interaction with the folks who do excise taxes for cars in Boston. Seems like the emails started just after that.

I got two "Internet Banking Suspended" and two "Congratulations!!"

I also belonged to a couple of neighborhood/community/school listserves-- maybe that did it. Any similarities here to other people for triggers?
