We just bought a great house on a quiet street in the Adams Village area. We saw the house many times and came to visit the neighborhood many times before purchasing and never noticed airplane noise. Now we do, quite a lot. I'm hoping that we will get used to it. I did a search to see if there had been others complaining about this but didn't find much. It isn't all the time but I might say that it is at least 1/2 the time. Does anyone else have experience with this? I love to have the windows open but the noise can get pretty grating. Thanks!

I live in the Adams Village area myself and never seem to have any problems with airplane noise. Sure airplanes fly over every day but it is no bother to me.

I live up on Carruth St. and I actually like it. The planes usually stop flying over early in the evening.

Default The noise is new

dianitama,

I've been in Dorchester (Fields Corner) for about 10 years and noticed the increase in low planes flying over within the last year at most. It is becoming annoying.

I believe there was a new runway being put at the airport. I was at Ronan Park the other day and notice they must have installed a landing runway because about 7 planes landed in succession.

I'm not sure how to handle this at this point. I'll see if others in the neighborhood have noticed this.

Friends of Ronan Park member

Thanks

I lived in Port Norfolk Dorchester for a while and I got used to the noise. It stops after a certain hour. I grew up in Boston and got used to noise. Too bad someone did not disclose that before you purchased. I hope Boston is good to you.

I think this is common for many of the more outlying neighborhoods. We get a lot of low overflights in Roslindale, too. It's to be expected when we live about five miles from a major airport. As others have noted, though, it doesn't happen much at night, so I'm really not too bothered by it, nor do I even notice it anymore.

I used to live in Port Norfolk too, which is one of the noisiest areas of the city, but especially for airplane noise. That is over that infamous air-route, the only one that can handle air traffic during a storm.

I got used to it after a couple of years. After hearing airplanes every 10 minutes and once a minute during storms, I finally moved to Neponset/Adams Village also. Ironically I did not notice airplane noise there at all.
