hi all

I am a paediatric nurse trained in the uk, now live in Australia and looking at coming to work as a paediatric nurse in Boston.

However, i have been told that because i am not a general nurse i cannot work. can someone please help, i have heard there is an exam to do but just need to know if it is possible and how do i go about getting to work in boston.

Not sure what you mean by "a general nurse," but if you have a license, you'd need to be licenses in MA, the general RN license. If you're coming from out of country, you likely have to take the state board exam, and wouldn't be able to even start to consider a job (esp. a popular specialty in Boston as yours is) without the license in hand. I suggest contact the Board of Registration, Division of Nursing, in Boston. It's a state government office- the medical boards of registration are under the BOM. Best wishes.

Save yourself a lot of hassle and use a nurse staffing company like Cross Country Travcorp... They will arrange your visa, get your licenses taken care of, pay your travel expenses and even arrange your housing in Boston if you need it ( if you don't need it they will pay you a subsidy).
