New here and considering move to Brevard county in next 6 mos or so. My wife is an RN working in labor and delivery dept here. Has 15 years of experience. Anyone know what she could expect in terms of hourly wage at the hospitals in Brevard county? (I believe that Holmes may be the only county hospital with L&D department).

Thanks for any help!

G.

Anyone have any ideas? Even if you just have knowledge of what nurse starting salaries are in the Brevard area, that would help.

Thanks

G.

did you look on salary.com? I think you can put in the zip and it will give you a range. Also you might want to look into a cost of living calculator comparing where you live now to Brevard.

With 15 yrs of experience, I'd say at least $25/hr.

I would love to know the answer to this question as well. Is that $25 an hour a guess or does anyone know this from nurses in the area? Does anyone know how the working conditions are in the area hospitals? Thanks in advance!

The $25 an hr is a guess. I doubt it would be more than $30 an hr. I'm not an RN but have family that is, but they don't work in Brevard Co.

You are probably right about the rate, (and I appreciate your input). There is such a difference in salary between different areas in Florida and what they are paying based on experience and area of specialty that there is no way of knowing for sure unless I hear it from someone who is working as a nurse.

I have been considering Cocoa Beach but if they are going to pay me $22 an hour and the cost of living would be high for what I'm getting paid, then I have to reconsider.

I wish I could call/email the hospitals down there to find out, but I'm sure they probably give some sort of line that it depends on the individual or something. I don't get why these hospitals just don't post the rate on their websites

I'd think they're all going to be pretty similar in pay, unless you were looking at a hospital in South FL. They probably pay more in South FL. But throughout Central FL, I'd be shocked if it were more than $28-30 an hr, and I'd be shocked if less than $24-25/hr with a lot of experience.

I bet your right on with the salary, maybe with night and weekend differential one can make high 20's low 30's.

I have had someone tell me that Miami pays about $35/hr, and I'm sure that is the highest rate in all of Florida with the exception of maybe the Keys.

If anyone on this thread hears anything in the future about nursing salaries or reviews of area hospitals, please post on this thread.
