I'm considering a position at SUNY-Buffalo. I am looking at housing and wondering where young, single, active people who like to party would fit in. I like the downtown atmosphere with condos and high rises. Where do students normally live? Anyone have suggestions?

I'm new here, but it seems to me that the areas south of BuffState, much of Allentown, the area in between UBSouth and Canisius and east of Main, the area around the Elmwood strip, are all college student hot-spots.

There are several new off Campus housing projects very near the north campus of UB in Amherst. One on Sweethome and another on Chestnut Ridge.

The Elmwood Strip is a very good option for you, as is Downtown, if you are into all the high rises and condos and such. Also Allentown is a good college area within the City of Buffalo. Personally, I think that you would most enjoy the young, hip, ethnic, college village of Elmwood which is near downtown Buffalo, just a mile or two out of the way from the City Center. (would recommend checking out Main Street on weekdays and see what you think, especially downtown in the Theatre District area on Main Street where the subway is). Welcome to College Town USA - Buffalo, New York.
