Wow! That's almost 2/3rds of Vegas' 13.4% unemployment
Buffalo & WNY was in it's own recession for the last 40 years
before the national recession started and when the national recession is over. Buffalo will still be in it's own recession for different reasons then why the national recession happen.

If the Buffalo area unemployment rate increases another 20% it will match the national rate that is almost 10%. I imagine even that 10% wold look pretty good to somene stuck in Nevada where the unemployment rate is the nations third highest at 13.2%. http://www.kolotv.com/home/headlines/59727227.html

Sure, but even in this recession, Buffalo has found a way to have gains in employment, somehow.
Also, I think it was a matter of what line of work you were in in the area before the recession. If Pittsburgh has found a way to revamp it's economy, I think Buffalo can too.
Then, you have to think that in Nevada, the industries driving that state aren't necessarily for everyone or have taken a hit themselves, depending on your line of work, of course.

That's dishonest, as they went down with the rest of the country and went up slightly one quarter. You're making sound as if Buffalo's unemployment went down since the start of the recession, which it certainly did not.

I agree. It all started with opening up Pittsburgh's waterfront. Get rid of the skyway, and then we can talk.
Yeah there definitely is but you have to look hard and its the same wherever you go to be honest...i have cousins that moved to atlanta and charlotte and still took a real long time to find a job even with 4 year college degrees...pretty much it comes down to who you know and how well you present youself...also how hard you look for the job.

Actually, if you look at the Brookings Report, it said that Buffalo gained jobs during the 2nd quarter of the year. Yes, everyone got hit, but some still haven't gotten up yet.
