Hi,

My Husband and I are looking for a cabin to rent for a weekend in early October with our dog. We have plans in Burlington on Friday night and would like to be within a hour of the city. We will hike/relax for the rest of the weekend. We prefer a rustic cabin to a hotel/motel and are having trouble finding lodging like this in the area that's affordable. (We found some for around $180/night but were hoping to spend less, and don't really need all the ammenities that come with the price tag). We would camp if we could, but are thinking that the nights will be too chilly that time of year...

Are there any suggestions out there for us? We would love to stay at the many state park cabins but they are closed after Labor Day. Any help would be much appreciated!!

Thanks in advance!

I've gone camping in late September in NH and while it got chilly at night, it wasn't anything an extra blanket over the sleeping bag didn't take care of. I actually prefer camping in that kind of weather. The cool early fall nights and mornings just feel like the perfect camping weather.

I just stayed at Grand Isle State Park, 45 minutes north of Burlington. They have a lot of cabins, and are open through Columbus Day per the signs at the park.
