Hi there, Woodstock is probably 20 mins, not much more than that, if that much, via interstate - from Woodstock, you would hop onto 89S - Woodstock and its surrounding towns such as Quechee, Pomfret are nice -- Burlington is a great city too - lots of stuff to do there --must definitely be a tough decision especially since both towns are fun - if you want to do more things then Burlington might be the consideration; however, being in Woodstock, you are close enough to the Upper Valley [West Lebanon NH] and there are lots of things to do there, including shopping, restaurants, etc.

Will be happy to give you more information if you would like....

Have you taken into consideration the type of area you are looking to move. With the exceptin of the villages or downtowns in the Woodstock area, most of the area is a rural setting. In the greater Burlington area, the setting is more of a suburban setting. There are a few rural areas around Burlington, but they are typically about twenty minutes out of the city. Crime in Vermont is low. The data that was released showed some big increases in drug related crimes. In the majority of all cases it was people involved in that activity that were involed in the crime. I would not worry about what area you live in as far as crime is concerned. Even looking at property crimes. Most homes and cars that had things stolen from them were left unlocked. Lock your car and home and stay clear of drugs and you will avoid almost all types of crime in Vermont.

I grew up there and I can tell you Woodstock is as handy as it gets to Hanover NH. I grew up nearby and went to school in the town of Woodstock. The school is excellent and only getting better, with an amazing student teacher ratio, art, music, theater, and any sport your kid could possibly be interested in, plus take advantage of extra-curricular activities through Dartmouth College, Woodstock Rec, and ski Killington, or Woodstock has her own Suicide Six. And there's so much more! Crime is extremely rare, and people tend to help each other, smile at each other, even wave when driving past one another. I've been in Boston for 12 years and I can't wait to get back to the Upper Valley!

I'll throw in this little tidbit. I recently drove to Hanover from Woodstock (I was actually in West Woodstock) and it took me 30-40 min during the morning rush hour. There's a ton of traffic going over the river from Norwich. It probably took me 10 minutes just between getting off 91 and into Hanover.
