hello, me and my wife (both in our 20's) are considering moving to Burlington Vermont, We are from florida and its way to seasonal. so we We're wondering how hard it is to get waitress/cook/retail jobs in this area?

You won't get by on those kinds of jobs in Burlington.

Probably easy to get those types of gigs, but as artichomesteader mentioned above, where are the rest of your living expenses coming from?

I'm not sure you would have any time to sleep or live with the amount of back to back shifts at different places you would need to cover rent etc. I could be wrong, but I don't see it happening easily.......

The folks I know who work as waitresses and/or cooks, are living with room-mates because they can't afford to pay the rent without at least two other incomes, OR they are working those jobs as second jobs, as their first one isn't sufficient.

The way to combat *some* of that is to live out of the Burlington Metro area and drive into the city for work (but then you have the charges for parking to contend with). Rents will be lower in the "non popular" areas, such as Fairfax or perhaps Westford.
