It always puzzles me when people say Burlington has limited shopping when people from all over the state travel hours to shop there because other areas have nothing but grocery and a billion and one auto part stores.

I WISH we had what Burlington has!

Good Grief Why_Am_I_Here! Travel across the lake to Plattsburgh and shop at Target. Try traveling to other areas in the state where you have to drive 75+ miles just to even get to a Wal-mart and then stop complaining how bad you have it!!!

no kidding

Burlington has 36,000 people. In the ten minute drive from Burlington to Williston there are two large malls and Tafts corners. Pretty much every chain is here except Target, Trader Joe's and Whole Foods.

Healthy Living and City Market are decent alternatives to Whole Foods

I don't get the Target thing. I used to live a mile from a Target and don't miss it at all. Seems like the Target people poo poo Walmart? Same thing to me (except the employee pay thing).

I'm amazed at how many stores are here. I actually wish we had less.

Yes agree, having grown up in Brandon where just going to the mall was a 30 mile trek, I love that Burlington has a mall I can walk to. Burlington doesn't have the shopping of say, New York City, but compared to all of Vermont and most of upper New England the shopping is very good!

How is Burlington High School? Is it a good school?

Why would Target/Walmart influence one's decision to move to Burlington???

Why would anyone care about such a trivial thing?

Burlington HS is fine, if for no other reason than its size..

The better high schools are probably South Burlington HS and Essex Junction HS, both being suburbs of Burlington ( Essex has an IBM plant)...

When I was living in VT and we went there during weekends when high school was out I didn't really care for the beggars andthey weren't that much of a problem.
