Why no BT thread?
My opinion: Dumb idea from the beginning (and I said so years ago). May negatively affect the city's credit rating and result in higher taxes.
Why does gov't need to be in the entertainment business?

Well BT is a creation of VT's guvmint so any criticism would likely get zapped as negative political talk. It wasn't my 18 million and it won't be my millions more BT gets from the state coffers because they are too beautiful to fail.

I forgot... sorry.
Living in VT is wine and roses and all that.
My bad.

But... I live in Burlington and BT service is horrible... When BT's debt results in higher taxes, I'm sure that will result in even less jobs.

No Burlington residents on the boards, huh?
This is big news up here, what with the mayor possibly being charged and all...

Well...
BT cost the progressive party here the IRV vote, most of the seats they ran for, and probably the mayor's seat when that comes up again.

The Burlington Free Press reported on a criminal investigation.
I've heard from more than one inside source (two) that criminal charges will be coming.
I guess its more likely that Jonathon Leopold will be charged, and not the mayor, but its possible that Bob Kiss will face criminal charges.

When I first saw the announcement from Sorrel's office I figured that it was just a show investigation that would eventually conclude that all was done on the up and up.
I've since heard from two fairly reliable sources (I won't name them- time will tell if they are correct) that criminal charges are likely.

Side note:
Personally, I don't consider what Kiss and Leopold did "corruption". When I think of political corruption, and this is just me, I think of things done for personal gain, either financial or electoral.
I don't think Kiss and Leopold are corrupt. I think they are incompetent and not very bright.
