Businesses keep TVs going? How odd.

Local businesses all play the local country western radio station for background music. In the places with TV's, bars play sports. The local tire place has a TV, that no one watches, and the customers have control of the remote to choose from local stations. Doctors offices have nature films on a loop: penguins or waterfalls.

I can't think of any other business that keeps a television running all the time. Businesses don't want their employees watching TV, and waiting rooms mostly have magazines. No restaurant has a TV because that would annoy the customers who want a quiet meal. If you must eat in front of a TV, eat at home.

I've never been in a business that was playing cable news on a television.

Hotels for one. I used to travel a lot for work and it seemed like every hotel had Fox News playing. However, I for one could care less and have nothing against Fox News. I've been to a couple tire shops, and yes, it's true the customer can control the remote, but I do remember one was on Fox News, the story (not the reporting) was pretty ridiculous as I recall... that's the only reason I remember. I've also seen hotels put on CNN. I stayed at maybe 20-30 hotels over 3 years, and nearly ever hotel had either CNN or Fox News on in the lobby. I will watch either news channel and think they both do fine.
