Anybody know if any of the electronics stores are still selling new C/R/T television? I'm looking for a good deal on a tube tele' between 32" - 36". My 31" Sanyo went out after 10 years and I don't feel like getting it repaired. If I could find one for alot less than an LCD or plasma, it would be great.

You can't find a tube TV that size anymore in a big box retailer. OTOH, Goodwill has lots of tube TVs. So many people have been frightened into believing that their old tube TV will be worthless in February that they're donating them like crazy.

I'm about to donate a 36" Sony XBR to Goodwill. I was going to try to sell it, but it's worth more as a tax deduction. It's the last XBR tube TV they ever produced and it's HEAVY. Something like 240 pounds and almost all of that is the glass up front. It was nice, but the 4:3 format is annoying when I watch HD and that's almost the only thing I watch.
It's a shame, too, because I spent almost $2500 on it in 2002. A former coworker of mine has the same TV and tried to sell it, but couldn't get much over $100 for it. I'm just not going to settle for that, but he's still trying.
It was definitely the shiznit in its day and still works great. My wife and daughter sort of miss it, but I like the 40" LCD that replaced it, especially its weight of only 48 pounds

we just moved and had 3 tube TV's and we couldn't even pawn them --- the pawn shop wouldn't take them as everybody is going to flat screen lcd's/plasmas... we ended up giving 2 away and donating 1 to the battered women's shelter...we also have a 50inch samsung big screen that we are having to give to my brother because we can't even sell it...

i was going to suggest the same thing as bowie and maybe check the goodwill stores ...

the "old school" TV's. Theyr'e called CRT's which stands for cathode ray tube, which is how the picture gets to the screen. The picture quality is excellent, but the bulk isn't acceptable to most people. Plus they stopped keeping up with modern expectations and very few went to HD. The one I'm getting rid of did, but the price was just crazy.

When I replaced my TV about a year ago I was going to get an HD TV but when I saw the price of HD ($750) vs. CRT($150) I decided I could go with CRT one more time. In 2012 when I have to go HD I'm betting the price will be way down. I haven't looked latley to see if they are still selling them but if you can find one I'll bet you can get a good deal.
