Governor Jerry Brown announced that he is returning 84 percent of the Governor’s transition fund, making sharp cutbacks in the Governor’s Office, and eliminating the Office of the Secretary of Education, for a total savings of $7.05 million.

Why don't any politicians ever address the hundreds of billions of dollars that illegals cost California?

Have you listened to the politicians in Arizona? That's all they talk about. They have other problems in their state but all they can talk about is the illegals. All that talking prevents them from doing anything to fix any of the other problems.

Poor ill informed Ulysses. Illegals do not cost the state anything, they contribute to the state financially and support at the most basic level, the $40billion dollar AG industry.

If, people who think like you succeeded in removing the illegals, all of you would be completely shocked at the complete destruction of the economy of the state. The ripple effect of that $40,billion is much of the $2 trillion economy. We can look at just one town, Salinas, every motor vehicle dealer would close their doors, every grocery store, every hardware store, every ag support business, smuckers would close, Salinas would be a ghost town, the ripple effect of that, plus the other AG towns serviced by Bay area businesss would collapse the economy of the entire bay area.

In a way I would love to see the nuts win, just to see the look on their faces when they find out why they lost their jobs.

This good news. The article also shows a cutting a lot of other positions:

Quote:
To achieve the 25 percent savings in his own office, the Governor is making cuts that include:
• Cutting the Governor's Washington, D.C. office staff.
• Cutting the Governor's press and communications staff.
• Eliminating the position of Cabinet Secretary and all deputy cabinet secretaries.
• Eliminating the Office of the First Lady.
• Closing the Governor’s field offices in San Diego, Fresno, and Riverside.
• Eliminating the Office of the American Reinvestment and the Recovery Act Inspector General six months ahead of schedule, as previously announced.
Shrinking Sacramento is a good thing. So I give ole' Jerry credit where credit is due, even if I didn't vote for him. I like that he is getting serious about making cuts. However with a $28 billion deficit we will have to more, much more. Hopefully education won't end up as a casualty of war.

Derek

All the cuts listed above prove that when politicians say there's nothing left to cut, they're lying. A few million may only be symbolic against a deficit of billions, but its a start.

You are totally incorrect as usual. Nothing but radical liberal propaganda spews in your posts. Illegal aliens cost California tax payers billions. The illegal population is one of the main reasons this state has gone downhill and in economic crisis.

You are wrong.

...and many have tried to argue with your fixed delusions before...

Now, I believe that you only write to fight. Trouble is, your beliefs are immutable, and thus you actually do not argue, rather you post to bicker and preach. Luckily, few agree with you.

FAIR: The Fiscal Burden of Illegal Immigration on U.S. Taxpayers (http://www.fairus.org/site/News2/977633106?page=NewsArticle&id=23190&security=1601& news_iv_ctrl=1761 - broken link)
The Fiscal Burden of Illegal Immigration on
United States Taxpayers

Executive Summary

This report estimates the annual costs of illegal immigration at the federal, state and local level to be about $113 billion; nearly $29 billion at the federal level and $84.2 billion at the state and local level. The study also estimates tax collections from illegal alien workers, both those in the above-ground economy and those in the underground economy. Those receipts do not come close to the level of expenditures and, in any case, are misleading as an offset because over time unemployed and underemployed U.S. workers would replace illegal alien workers.
Key Findings
  • Illegal immigration costs U.S. taxpayers about $113 billion a year at the federal, state and local level. The bulk of the costs — some $84.2 billion — are absorbed by state and local governments.
  • The annual outlay that illegal aliens cost U.S. taxpayers is an average amount per native-headed household of $1,117. The fiscal impact per household varies considerably because the greatest share of the burden falls on state and local taxpayers whose burden depends on the size of the illegal alien population in that locality
  • Education for the children of illegal aliens constitutes the single largest cost to taxpayers, at an annual price tag of nearly $52 billion. Nearly all of those costs are absorbed by state and local governments.
  • At the federal level, about one-third of outlays are matched by tax collections from illegal aliens. At the state and local level, an average of less than 5 percent of the public costs associated with illegal immigration is recouped through taxes collected from illegal aliens.
  • Most illegal aliens do not pay income taxes. Among those who do, much of the revenues collected are refunded to the illegal aliens when they file tax returns. Many are also claiming tax credits resulting in payments from the U.S. Treasury.

Well well well, highnlite says it best. Don't conservatives hate the Bay Area? Perhaps this is why they speak as they do? Interesting you said this.
