I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the Gallup released a poll which ranked California having the third worst job market behind Nevada and New Jersey.

North Dakota and Washington, D.C., Best Job Markets in 2010

I work for a private company, and I'd certainly rather be here.

Yeah 3rd worst job market and most expensive place to live. It's a perfect situation. But the weather is so nice(sarcasm).

We know that, it's kind of sad, and maybe California will be the worst if Oregon and Nevada improve

Suit yourself.
If you've got the education, you could pretty much write your own ticket anywhere.
If not, you'll either have to move elsewhere to suit your needs, or achieve that education in an area where the wait-lists for classes doesn't put your success further out of reach.

As far as I go, I'm a desert man.
Wherever there's dirt, rocks, and heat, you'll find me there.

Coastline, greenery, they're all yours!!!
