No, they're whatever they choose to call themselves, which is definitely not American.

Geographic, political or biological? Each one has slightly different boundaries.

Easy. Canada, the United States of America, Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and the northern half of Panama.

North America in the more usual sense -- not as a continent, but as a geo-region -- is just Canada, the U.S. and Mexico. Even so, when Mexicans use the term norteamericanos, they're talking about inhabitants of the U.S. alone, or those of the U.S. and Canada taken together. They do not consider themselves norteamericanos.

American is a political entity not a geographic one. The only country in the Americas to have America in it's name is the USA. Canadians, Mexicans, Brazilians ect. are known by those names despite their geographic location.

Geographic North America also includes Greenland and the western half of Iceland.

So technically we could then consider Denmark a North American country, yes?
