There was a time that I would have believed that. There was a time I was naive.

This isn't about gay sex, it's about history. If you want to sweep everything under the rug so be it, but there is some pretty big civil rights issues regarding homosexuality that we can't pretend didn't/aren't happening. They are going to be talked about in school whether this bill passes or not, and in your state, and by your kids, and there is nothing you can do about that.

For the record I'm against this bill, but I'm also against hysterics of all sorts.

Sigh. If the bill is vague about what will be taught about gay history, then you can't expect to believe that it will not be explicit about homosexuality.

Yes, at some point, children will be exposed to the concept but wouldn't you rather that the parents have control in how they prepare their children for that exposure?

The bill was created by two politicians instead of educators. Another example of California having to put up with the stupidity of politicians who think they know every solution to the problem.

I believe in what Ron Paul says, in that the government should stay out of marriage and let it be a private affair using private contracts. That's what "conservatism" is all about right, freedom and less government? In this scenario, a person would not be allowed to marry an animal because an animal doesn't have the "capacity to consent to an agreement." If two adult males or females want to have a private ceremony and sign private contracts with each other and call it a marriage, who really cares?

Sure I can. It takes some pretzeling to think otherwise.

Parents can do that now. My kids never heard anything in school they didn't hear from me first.

Which is why I don't support the bill. I said that already.
