They only sell it in a few mom and pop type mini-marts in town. The large grocery stores don't carry it.

Never heard of handel's. Where do you buy it? Blue Bell is delicious, although I don't like to buy them because they're not particularly socially responsible.

Jersymade is Gross to the max. It's all "air" and disappears quickly. Everyone is giving me ice cream stores to go to. I'm not asking for that. I'm asking for ice cream that you buy at the grocery stores. All Calif
varieties are pretty much tasteless compared to the fare that I find over here in So Texas. I could also name good ice cream places that I could physically go to, mostly Thriftys and one called Fosselman's in alhambra. I'm not sure
if it's still there since Alhambra got taken over by the chinese.

What do you mean? Question answered? Don't you know of any other ice creams with a rich taste? I still would like to know of any for when I visit Calif.

I tried Blue Bell wasn't impressed, they got into the Florida market a few years ago, but I'll give them credit you still get a 1/2 gallon for the price but it's not even close to Handel's quality.

There are no Handel's in Texas, they are a walk-up ice cream stand, but I read on their website they ship it all over the place, never tried it so cannot vouch if the quality is the same, I doubt it?

Handel's Homemade Ice Cream & Yogurt

I personally like Frozen Custard and Italian Ice's, Rita's is my favorite, sadly though there is none in Miami so I have to drive elsewhere to get it.

Rita
Thanks. I'll have to try that the next time that I'm in redondo. If it's better than Blue Bell, that's pretty damm good.

Looks like you're going to have to leave your comfort zone and head to a Handel's. There's one in LA County and two here in the West IE.
