Really? Have you been to Darwin? If not, I advise a trip to Darwin before you make any decisions. Darwin is a ghost town, with a few residence, there are no services. The closest services are in Lone Pine, 40 miles away.

While, Darwin works for those for whom Darwin works, most people would probably not be happy there.

Yuk Yuk.

One of the world's premier mountain bike down hill runs is from Darwin to Panamint Springs Resort. Very interesting, with a stop at China Garden for lunch.

Darwin, Calif., left behind by the Internet's evolution - kwch.com (http://www.kwch.com/news/la-me-darwin-20120312,0,2293285.story - broken link)

Is this what got your interest?

I could not live in Darwin, too many people, and they are all in each others business.

I'm still interested in Darwin, CA. Would like to know housing situation, preferable rental. I'm single and older. I am single and looking for the desert and solitude.

You are going to have to drive there and ask, it is not a town in any normal sense of the word. I am sure that you can move into any of the abandoned shacks, or the mouths of any mineshafts you have a mind to.

There is a restaurant, gas station, and country store much closer in Panamint Springs.
