I am pondering a move out from the Northeast. Despite this, I am a warm climate person. I absolutely despise cold and snow. Id rather control that than not and have to deal with 4-5 months of cold and snow here. Being able to drive between places and microclimates/geography is most appealling to me.

I have family in LA and SF, and my brother moved out to Honolulu 12 years ago he hated the cold so bad.

I have never lived in a year round, warm/sunny climate as such on the coasts of California (im aware of Northern areas not being as sunny and quite rainy).

My question is, do you get sick of the year round warmth and sun, and virtually no change in seasons?

Change in seasons is alright. Summer is my favorite and fall is cool too, but winter and spring are bleh.

I have a feeling I would love that, but just wanna see if others felt the same.

Thank you in advance.

Nope. I love it. Sure, the two main seasons are the rainy season (winter to spring) and the dry season (summer and fall) but there is a lot of geographic relief in California with a ton of micro climates. When you get bored of the warm Mediterranean climate of the coast just drive up to the mountains to play in snow or pine tree forests (complete with lots of moss on trees, wild mushrooms, and creeks all over the place), when you're bored of that go hiking or bike riding in the oak woodland forests in the foothills or go over the mountains and explore the desert. There is something for everyone around here and lots of different local climates.

I wouldn't want to live in a cold area either but I like that I can drive to a cold area in just under an hour. My wife and I enjoy driving up to the local mountains where a lot of cold weather fruit crops grow (things that need that a cold snap like apples, pears, and cherries) so we can pick the fresh local fruit and enjoy things like fresh local apple pie and cherry cobbler. I also like the local hard apple cider. Best of all when you get bored with the snow you get to go home where it is warm and sunny.

See, that is what is awesome to me.

Being able to choose what climate you want, basically. Im also a big nature nerd too.

I never get sick of not having snow on the ground or otherwise harsh winters. If I want to visit snow, I can drive to the mountains.

We also have a whole lotta beer, so you are in luck there.

And if I don't want to do cold weather stuff then 45 minutes away is a wine region where we can do wine tasting, there are local dairy farms which make nice artisan cheeses, the beach is always cool, you can rent a sail boat or a jet ski for cheap, there are a ton of Indian casinos if you're in the mood for Vegas style gambling without the drive, and best of all California has a TON of state parks, national forest land, county open space preserves, and BLM land all of which is open for camping, hiking, biking, horse back riding, and just going fishing. Personally, I'm big on fishing so being in a region with lots of large lakes and reservoirs, some decent sized rivers, and tons of great ocean fishing is key.

Oh, and if you really do like beer check out San Diego as it is America's #1 beer city. We have more award winning local breweries than any other county in the country (almost 90 at last count which actually bottle and brew their own while there are dozens more who brew but only sell out of their pub and don't bottle). There is just a huge variety of very high quality local beers here even before you start looking at beers from outside the county.

The usual response to that would be, "Do you get sick of sex?", or "Do you sick of money?"

But for you, we can ask, "Do you get sick of beer?"

I love beer. Im from Upstate New York. Lots of microbrews here, but Saranac is my favorite simply because of it being the local brew.

Denver and Portland are good too.
