Thank you. Given they are consenting adults...

...I agree.

What about polygamy (between consenting adults of course)....

If not, why not?
Yeah, this a great question actually.

If any 2 consenting adults can marry, then on what legal or moral grounds do we have to deny 3 consenting adults who love each other the exact same rights?

I was watching this show called Polygamy USA and their families actually seem as normal as any family with 2 parents.

I personally could not be in a marriage of 3+ but who am I to stand in the way of others from doing that if they so choose?

I saw that show too. They were perfectly normal people. Not for me but live and let live.

Yeah, from a legal standpoint it's clear that the rights of consenting adults trumps whatever the collective decides, which I actually think is okay as far as moral issues.

From that.stand point, I cant think of any reasons to deny 3+ consenting adults legal recognition.

Darned right! And if they choose to marry, they should be allowed to be as miserable as other married couples.

I think the problem comes in with those religious/cult families who allow their 13-year old daughters to marry some 50-year old dude with a dozen wives already. But I doubt laws are going to prevent that practice anyway.

^That. You're right about this on both accounts.

Careful, I actually am in favor of today's ruling...
I am also in favor of today's ruling. In principle I have no problems with legalizing polygamy either. But it does pose a lot more questions than same-sex marriage does.

For example, what does a "divorce" mean in the context of a polygamous marriage? If three people are married, and one decides he wants a divorce, do the other two remain married or is the entire marriage now nullified?

Obviously laws could be made do deal with all these situations but the point is that they need to be dealt with. With same-sex marriages there were no such issues. Legally they are equivalent to opposite-sex marriages.

Yeah but the only thing that's wrong in this scenario is the part about young girls.

Otherwise, if consenting adults choose to be in a marriage with 2 or more other consenting adults and join a cult of clowns, that really should not be opposed by anyone who truly believes in the freedom to marry.

I really don't think it's that hard. I would imagine that if one wants out of a plural marriage, they simply file the papers and remove themselves.
