I find myself caring less and less about party loyalty and just standing for what I believe is right, which neither party encapsulates 100%.

It matters because there is supposed to be a structure people follow on this website.

What, as opposed to creating troll threads begging for quick and easy disruption?

Kind of thought that the ubiquitous 'comments' section anywhere else would scratch that itch.

Ok, I'll bite...

One or the other WILL win. One probably speaks of your interests more than the other.

Democracy is a messy, inefficient thing. Fascism is not. I will accept the mess.

Your point is well taken. Many of us (myself included) perhaps spend too much time defending our political positions / party while forgetting how utterly corrupt both parties are.

It's a classic "divide & rule" tactic used by the elite. Anything and everything is done to keep us fighting with each other over minutiae so we don't notice how much we are controlled and manipulated.

It's the same irrational and absurd mentality that starts bar fights because a fan of one sports team said something disparaging about the other team to one of their fans.

It has less to do with who best represents you and everything to do with a tribal "us versus them" and "lining up with the winner" mentality. I would LOVE to get an anthropologists or psychiatrists take on this. But I'm pretty sure I'm on the right track.

This is exactly why, despite Congress' dismal approval ratings, the same imbeciles continue to be re-elected. Why? Because almost all of the voters rationalize their choices by saying things along the lines of "It's the OTHER politicians that are the problem/obstructionist/unqualified/corrupt. NEVER the one that *I* voted for".
