Besides state tax at the pump, don't forget California's special witches brew that's state specific. In its defense it has helped clean the air which is a decided plus especially, if like me, you remember the smog in the 50s. Still, I'm happy about the $1.74 I paid this evening to fill up here.

So, is this thread the one where people will start discussing how maybe Texas and some other oil economy dependent states are about to fall into the ocean? Figuratively, of course. T'would be a dang shame if oil economy states suffered economic setbacks that would slow the 'drove' exodus out of California.
