Similar quality of life with good public schools, low crime rates etc - Simi Valley, Agoura Hills, Santa Clarita, Mission Viejo, and Diamond Bar could all work well for what you're looking for.

Default No on Santa Clarita!

I definitely would not consider Santa Clarita as on the same par as those norcal cities.

In LA county, Agoura Hills is nice. In nearby Ventura county, Thousand Oaks and Moorpark would be nice. In OC I would look at cities from Irvine to Laguna Niguel, possibly Lake Forest.

Lake Forest, Irvine, Mission Viejo, Aliso Viejo, Laguna Niguel, Foothill Ranch, Rancho Santa Margarita, they all kind of start to look and feel the same after awhile.

Oh and FYI folks, Moorpark and Thousand Oaks are in Ventura county. Desirable family environments where nothing bad ever happens to be sure, but not L.A. county. But no one should ever live in L.A. county unless there's some overwhelming compulsion to do so.

Thousand Oaks-Agoura Hills for sure. All the way down to the similar native California oak woodlands in the areas not swallowed up by sprawl. Although this is in Ventura County.

Orange County, IMO, is too built up to resemble the Pleasanton-Livermore area. Although maybe Yorba Linda-Fullerton maybe - but like I said too built up. Orange County, IMO is most comparable to Silicon Valley-San Jose in the Bay Area.

Irvine. I'm helping a few friends buy some properties in the Woodbury area (we all went to school in Nor Cal) and would be happy to pass along any feedback in case there is an overlap in what you're looking for.

Good luck!

Santa Clarita -- hands down!

Santa Clarita has different "sections".

The Newhall section reminds me of Livermore, with its "cowboy town" feel and Hispanic population.

The Valencia/Stevenson Ranch section is like Pleasanton -- upper income, yuppie, mostly White and Asian.

The Saugus section is like Dublin -- very nice, stately older homes, some ranchers.
