Would someone in the know pretty please describe/compare cities within an hour of the coast from Vancouver, BC, all the way down to Big Sur? Overall culture, major pros and cons, how family-friendly or not, weather. Or for fun could describe a made-up "quintessential person" from each area.

(Can skip San Francisco. Can skip from Davenport to Watsonville. Am already familiar with those.)

HUGE THANKS!!!

All prone to tsunamis, and they have the roadside signs to prove it

How about cities/towns I like on a coast from north to south: WA: Bellingham, Eastsound, Friday Harbor, Sequim, Mukilteo, Edmonds, Olympia
OR: Cannon Beach, Newport, Florence, and Bandon
CA: Arcata, Eureka, Mendocino (and most of the tiny villages along the way on this stretch of coast), Half Moon Bay, Monterey, and Carmel

Oh dear. Well California does have some big issues. Drought. Earthquake risk. Etc. Worth the risks to the many people though who choose to live here or some must not realize the risks.

Cool. Some of those I never heard of. Feel free to elaborate if you feel like it.

Oh, wasn't totally sure where to post it. Really like hearing about California from those who know it very well.

Why don't you take a coastal road trip and see and feel it all for yourself? Nothing like direct experience.
I'd live in Big Sur in a nano-second if i could afford to create a sanctuary that would suit me. My days of squatting in a tree house are passed (not that i ever did).
And yet it too has been compromised but the nature magic there is indescribably beautiful and powerful and the Mediterranean vibe isn't to be found anywhere else to such a degree.
