Fifth Third Bancorp will give 13,500 employees a bonus and will be raising their minimum wage to $15/hr.
But PG&E won't be paying their shareholders this quarter.

I don't know what this means for the rest of tax reform in California but for some it's going to be a very nice Christmas. I'm happy to see these big corporations giving back to the employees because without them, the company would be nothing.
Ahh well, my employees will be getting even bigger bonuses. They work hard.

Happy to see you are among those who recognize that.

Can't speak for Kansas or Louisianan, but you can buy Hurricane Insurance in TX, most just don't. I didn't but the chances of a Hurricane hitting Dallas where I lived near by, is very unlikely. No likelihood of flooding either where my home was.

Flood insurance is also available and if you live in a flood zone with a mortgage you are required to buy it. Flood insurance is a FEMA mandate in any State with flood zones including CA. Plus the banks will require it. Fire insurance should be mandatory for any Mortgage in CA near any areas where such is likely to happen.

This is what I responded to:

What you posted above is not responsive to the question I posed. I am still waiting for your list of states that offer natural disaster coverage, not states where you can buy it but states that actually provide the insurance because I am not aware of any And I'm still not sure why you would claim that California should be the only state expected to act as an insurer for natural disasters.

I'm not; not sure where you got that idea. But most of us are certainly not employees of cable companies!

Funny, so a handful of companies announce some nominal bonus to employees because of the "tax plan" and people truly believe this crap. What a joke. Great PR move though. Wonder how much Trump paid them for those announcements. The tax break in 1986 didn't spur wage growth and it likely won't this time either.

We'll see how this plays out. Nauseating to hear these senators talk as they have no real clue how business works. Maybe we'll end up with an individual tax rate in the 40%+ range just like the U.K. Since their corporate tax rate is now about 19%.

True, Insurance is issued by insurance carriers, not States. So if you live in Montana you probably can't find hurricane insurance.

I am questioning why anyone feels the US should provide protection for things other than declared Nature disasters acknowledged by the Gov't.

If CA feels anyone without insurance or at least adequate insurance should be helped, let CA pass a law and help them.

My comment was snark because I get tired of hearing people say "Where's mine? What about me?" Of course it was a PR stunt but it's still nice, as an employee, to get a little monetary gift from your employer. I'm not going to begrudge anyone for that. But you do what makes you feel better.

Exactly right. Besides Democratic whiners/politicians such as Pelosi and Schumer, my legal colleagues who are wealthier than me are screaming.
