Yikes Jim, Breitbart News is not a credible source.

Breitbart News Network (known commonly as Breitbart News, Breitbart or Breitbart.com) is a far-right syndicated American news, opinion and commentary website founded in mid-2007 by conservative commentator Andrew Breitbart, who conceived it as "the Huffington Post of the right."

Its journalists are widely considered to be ideologically driven, and some of its content has been called misogynistic, xenophobic, and racist by liberals and many traditional conservatives alike. The site has published a number of falsehoods, conspiracy theories, and intentionally misleading stories.

I hear you but I am a liberal minded person. I am not a "bleeding heart".

I am fiscally conservative as well.

However what I see here in CA are many Dem's who are "bleeding hearts" or socialists and don't believe in fiscal conservatism.

Those tend to the majority of CA voters and the reason CA has so many issues that you don't find in other well run states.

It only makes sense that we don't give any benefits to people that aren't even supposed to be in the country in the first place.

Yeah, it was really insane, actually. He went to L.A. and marched with undocumented workers who wanted legal state driver's licenses, even though they were illegals. But, what he didn't understand is that his legal constituents, which included a large percentage of immigrants who went through the lengthy process to become legal -- didn't think it was a good idea to give illegals a legal state ID. And, there were also people like me, who love immigrants, but who didn't think it was safe, right after 9-11, to give illegal immigrants legal state IDs.

It just went to show, though, that he did not understand his own constituents, as far as the legal Latino vote - to think they would want illegal immigrants to get legal state IDs, just because they were also from Mexico or other Central American countries. He was just so far removed from that voter pool that he was completely clueless. Sure, he wanted their vote, but he didn't take any time to listen to what they actually wanted, and assumed they'd want illegals to get legal state IDs.

Just clueless, as far as his own constituents.

Same scenario for today's gubernatorial candidates. Both of them are privileged a-holes who have no clue as far as understanding their constituents.

I really wished there was another viable option other than Gruesome. But, I'm not going to vote for another Trump lackey, no way, no how.

A driver's license benefits all of us because it allows people to get car insurance who aren't eligible to do so without a license.

California was the 10th state to offer driver's licenses for illegals, it isn't a new idea or unique to California. The AB60 licenses are specially marked, they are not valid ID for air travel so I have no idea what you think they have to do with 9/11. It has reduced the numbers of hit and run accidents so I fail to see why anyone would be upset with the program.

It's not like we are going to kick 2.3 million illegals out of California, they are here to stay, so the question is do you want them licensed and insured when they drive or not?

You are completely missing the point as far as what they had to do with 9/11. At the time, people were really afraid of illegals coming into the U.S. under even valid visas. The terrorists who were involved with 9/11 initially came into the US with valid visas, which had expired. So, the idea of giving illegal aliens a valid state ID in CA, that they could then use to get into other states, was really scary.

Just absorb that for a minute.

The terrorists who helped orchestrate the 9/11 attacks had come into the U.S. with visas that had expired. So, of course, the idea of giving legal IDs to illegal immigrants at the time was really scary.

And your argument regarding illegals being here to stay, so why not give them legal IDs is really unreasonable, to put it nicely.

And, as far as hit and runs being better regarding illegal aliens having licenses vs not having illegal aliens licensed, is really also unreasonable, to put it nicely.

The only people who really benefited from illegals getting licenses, was the insurance industry. if you can only get a license if you can also show that you are insured - then who profits from more people being licensed? Hello. Insurance companies.

But, if people can't afford insurance, it's not going to matter whether or not they have recently acquired a legal state drivers license. They will drive off, because they don't have insurance.

So, the only thing that changes, is that the illegals who can afford to have insurance will get legal state IDs and buy insurance.

But, that won't be all of them, by a long shot.

But, back to the topic at hand, my point was only ever about governors who were completely out of touch with their constituents.

I already addressed your 9/11 issue, you cannot use an AB60 license to board an airplane, and AB60 licenses were not even issued until 2015, a full 14 years after 9/11. Gray Davis was an idiot, he's the one who packed the prisons in order to make the correctional officers union happy and on top of it gave 30k + prison guards peace officer status. If I remember correctly his illegal drivers license law was subsequently vetoed or repealed, wasn't it?

Completely agree. I'm horrified at our options. (And, like you, I voted to recall Davis....having no idea what kind of governor Schwarzenegger would be.)
