Just like what happened in Minnesota a few years ago?

The few people who do show up at the Ballot often just copy their cheatsheets or are those highly progressive thinking democrats. i.e The ones who severely police any city-data forums for anyone who ever dare to speak disapproval or any form of dissatisfaction of the state's progressive agenda and will vigorously and consistently flame them in order to defend such policies. There are also a few hardcore conservatives who vote but are naturally severely outnumbered as this is a pro Democrat pro progressive state.

Yup. Now nobody is getting MY cute house in an excellent school district that I've owned for 27 years because I'm literally in a gilded cage and cant afford to move to that 55+ community I've had my eyes on. That'll show someone something!

Just curious---anyone notice that the homes in the article photo burned to nothing, while the trees surrounding them were unscathed? Even their foliage is intact. Doesn't that seem unusual? Can anyone offer an explanation? I notice they're redwoods; do redwoods have some kind of natural fire-proofing, that's effective up to a point?

It's not really unusual, trees especially large ones hold a lot of water. You can google it and you'll see all sorts of examples of houses burning to the grounds with trees still standing right next to them.

Redwoods are some of the most fire resistant plants on earth... they survive when others don't... redwoods do not contain pitch which is flamable.

Other trees that are standing may not be viable... lots of damaged standing timber hualed out the fires around Yosemite...

Green Wood is very hard to burn.

I was on a camping trip with a large fire in a proper fire pit... the coals were hot and always lasted through the night... one of the campers cut a limb from an oak and threw it on the hot coals... the next morning that log was only singed... fully intact otherwise...

Here is a link addressing Redwood resistance to fire... near the end of the writeup...

Yup. Can’t start a fire with a log, let alone a living tree ... unless it’s new growth ... even then tough because it’s full of moisture. I built a solid timber wall cabin with a sod roof for my girlfriend out in the boonies. You could stand all day with a blowtorch on it and not start it on fire. Embers on the roof? Heh. The dry grass up there will burn and never penetrate the 12” of dirt down to the waterproof membrane.

its not unusual. the trees are not dead and dry so they wont burn. have you ever cooked using firewoods? you cant just cut a tree and use it as a firewood immediately. you have to let it dry for some period of time before you can use it.

The concept of seasoned wood is difficult for some.

I had some storm fall cut, split and stacked.

The tenant had asked if he could have some and I showed him a 1/4 yard stack near the backdoor that was seasoned 2 years... he thanked me and again said the wood stacked behind the garage is green and would need at least a year.

I was on the property a few months later and noticed a lot of the green wood was missing... the tenant said he has been using it and it will burn with a hot fire... I looked inside the wood stove... covered in creosote all the way to the roof.

The title of this thread fits...
