All of those units are spoken for now."

At this point I'm even wondering if incoming college students are going to have places to live since evacuees are desperate for housing to the point of snatching up homes and apartments in typically college neighborhoods. It's going to have a negative ripple effect on the economy if it gets to that point.
A home in my neighborhood that went up for sale was 15% higher than it would have been before the fire and it sold in less than a week. That's a huge appreciation in such a short amount of time... and this is Oroville, not Chico.

My take on going over the Altamont was the opposite. Dropping into Castro Valley on the 580 and smelling the salt air was sublime. I hated the Valley and loved living in SF.

Coming down the Altamont into the Valley was always depressing.

The only relevant area in the central Valley is Fresno/Clovis.
It's the 5th biggest city in the state (bigger than sac in population) 4th being SF.

A lot of the bad stigma from the early 2000s are being fixed and main one being crime

comparison between big cities can be found here:
https://gddlaw.com/2016/05/12/cities...nia-dangerous/
and here:
Moderator cut: link removed, competitor site

homicide stats:
https://abc30.com/homicides-down-by-...ounty/4978297/
For comparison:
Fresno COUNTY (fresno, clovis, etc): 32
City of Oakland alone: 66
Alameda COUNTY (includes oakland): 85
Contra Costa COUNTY: 38
San Francisco: 42
bay area source:
https://www.mercurynews.com/2018/01/...omicides-2018/

thats right, Fresno is safer city has less violent crime per X population than Sacramento, Los Angeles, LA, SF, Oakland.

And dont go on comparing small cities to fresno like many do. if the best thing people are saying about their small bedroom cities is "its close to (insert SF, LA, etc here)" then you already lost.

This is just plain false, fresno's "revelancy" begins and ends in fresno. Sacramento is by far more "relevant" than fresno regionally and nationally.

The City of Sacramento (and Oakland, and Long Beach) are only smaller in population than Fresno because their incorporated city limit land size is much smaller than Fresno's.

For example, you can easily include the following bordering incorporated cities and municipalities to Sacramento, Oakland and Long Beach and they would easily surpass Fresno's population - 530,000.

Cities and municipalities that border the City Limits of Sacramento put it's "real" population at 720,000
Sacramento (505,000) West Sacramento (55,000), Arden-Arcade-Carmichael (160,000)

If you took the bordering cities and municipalities of Oakland such as Piedmont, Alameda, Berkeley, Emeryville, San Leandro then Oakland's "real" population is at least 700,000.

If you took the bordering cities surrounding Long Beach, you easily get well over 1,000,000.

Core County of these Cities:
Alameda County (Oakland) 1.7 million

Sacramento County 1.5 million

Fresno County 1.0 million

Metro Areas:
Oakland - 8.8 million

Sacramento - 2.7 million

Fresno - 1.1 million

Much smaller? Fresno is like 113-114 sq mile in size and sac is like 99-100 in size. It's not that big of a difference. Why have you been on a mission lately to attack Fresno, chim? Have my non cherry picked weather reports gotten to you? Relax, it's not that serious. Good nite, amigo.

You aren't supposed to post pretty much the exact same thing on multiple threads. {yes, this is somewhat tongue-in-cheek, but still....}

Fresno, Sacramento and Bakersfield all seem to be “relevant” Central Valley cities. Weird comments.

Fresno has a bigger population city limit wise but Sac's metro population is twice the size of Fresno's. I'm originally born and raised from Fresno btw.

And all three don't like each other as well

Usually if you're from one of these three cities you had nothing to do with the other two. Its changing though and getting a little more friendly between the three.. but you'd think we'd all get along to fight the big bad menace of the Bay Area and LA.
