Sunday morning the north east 118 is wide open. I was cruising at 100 and another car was doing the same.

People routinely hit 100 here in the wee hours of the morning. I drive around 80-85 and get torched by cars every day.

Oh hell yeah I wholeheartedly support this. I'd vote for a republican if that ment getting this done. I think the 15 would be a better place to start this it's already like the Autobahn going to Vegas on any given weekend. I normally hit 115+ without realizing it normally the traffic keeps up as well. Words can't describe how fun this is. Lol

Uhhhh... isn't that how long it already takes by car? At least, that's how long it takes ME to drive from SJ/SF to LA; and that's including a pit stop or two.

(to be fair, I almost always drive overnight; so it's usually just me and a bunch of semi trucks to my right)

Funny. The article claims the state is "considering" it but in the meat of it, the idea has been only "introduced." I love the sensationalism of headlines. Makes people all jittery. No way it will ever happen, though. Not unless they figure out a way to clean up the enormous amount of roadkill left on the freeways.

The thing is the first step in the legislative process is to "consider" said name legislation. Not sure why we shouldn't be happy. Hell even considering for me is a step in the right direction.

As much as I sometimes wanna do 100MPH (especially when I'm in a rush) I just can't imagine that actually being a good idea. There has to be a limit for other people's safety. If one is doing 95 - 100 MPH and suddenly needs to make a quick maneuver or slow down, it's gonna be almost impossible, where as if they were going 65 - 70 MPH they stand a better chance.

The thing is if they were going 35-45 mph they'd have a better chance too so why go 65-70. We have to remember that 65-75 isn't necessarily safe it's just what we've grown used to. This is going to be in rural areas where many go close to this speed already, there's still going to be slow lanes feel free to drive over their exclusively.

The limit of 65 or 70 is safer than 100 MPH as most drivers are not competent enough to drive at that speed.

Reasonable balance.

This is needed. Especially when you consider the changes to car safety, breaking and handeling over the last 40 years.
