Are you a junior member of the Chamber of Commerce or the City's marketing department?

Why would they have to be either?

This hatred and bashing of interior cities that aren't on the California coast has gotten to the point of insanity.

It's completely stupid, classist, borderline racist, and it should really stop!

You don't like the interior cities, fine. Bashing them, however, shows you're either a classist/racist/elitist dick -- and/or -- worried you may end up living in one some day, so you compensate.

While everyone has a right to their own opinion, bashing isn’t really helpful. To call it borderline racist is beyond ridiculous. People who throw the term “racist” around like you do are usually racist themselves.

It’s great that the OP loves where he/she lives, but to paint Bakersfield as this great paradise is as ridiculous as your race card post.

And yes, I had family there and been there. Not my cup of tea.

Fairly high crime rate.
Lack of industry and jobs (higher unemployment rate than the national average).
Unbearably hot in the summer.
Some of the worst air quality in the nation. Every list I’ve seen has Bakersfield in the top three for the worst air and some have it at number one.
Boring.

Bakersfield may not be everyone's cup of tea,but it's just like any other mid-sized city with the good and the bad...The city is also planning to build a beltway to prepare for future growth of the city.

Bakersfield has a lot of potential in my opinion.

It is racism, you just don't want to admit it.

It's because the larger inland cities (SB/Riverside, Bakersfield, Palmdale/Lancaster, Fresno, etc) all have a large percentage of non-Asian minorities and it makes people like you cringe.

So, yes, go ahead and blame whatever flimsy excuse you want to, at this point.

I grew up in the Central Valley in the seventies and couldn't wait to get out. It's a hell-hole of poverty, really bad air pollution and way too many bible thumpers.

I used to live in Bakersfield but now live in the San Fernando Valley. I miss Bakersfield believe it or not. It's a nice city, no traffic, close to national parks, nice neighborhoods, everything is close and lots of parking. The reason I had to move was because of a job. That is the biggest setback of living in Bakersfield is lack of good jobs. It is so hard to get a job there but with a secure and stable job then I think its a good city.

Wait! Do I understand what just happened here correctly?!?

Did kttam186290 call out my post asking if the OP is involved in City marketing or Chamber of Commerce as a racist post? What long arm of desperate victimhood produced that epiphany? What on earth in my post caused kttam to label my post (and therefore me) racist? I questioned whether the OP came onto a forum largely used by people to explore places to live and did nothing but sing Bakersfield's praises in order to promote Bakersfield from a professional, biased perspective. Seeing a racist intent or overtone because I sought clarification as to the OP's motives in posting is such an incredulous leap of logic that it renders me nearly speechless. Jaw dropped at the very least. Gobsmacked, certainly.

Someone who sees such evil behind every innocence is likely one who fosters such evil themselves. One may as well have stated that the comment of "I like cement floors instead of wood floors in a house" is also racist because cement floors are generally of a lighter tone than most wood surfaces. Or because cement is "made" and wood is "organic", therefore it is racist. Or the number in your username, which is a data sheet for a specific machined part with male threads. Does that make you mysoginistic, a sexist, a male chauvinist? At least that accusation is based on something concrete and objective, unlike yours.

What warped sense of reality must one live in to possess such a twisted perspective of an everyday statement that implies no such intent other than that which is clearly evident on its face?

I am offended and astounded. I am going to assume you made such a baseless and serious allegation because you can't help yourself and not because you attacked me, someone you do not know, you have never met, and you based your very serious allegation on a medium that does not allow for the conveyance of tone, expression, or other non-verbals to solidify a text-only post's intent.

I feel sorry for you kttam if I understand correctly that you directly stated that my comment (which you quoted when you made the claim) was racist. Your grasp of reality is fleeting and you should seek professional and possibly medicinal assistance before you hurt someone or yourself.

If I understood your post incorrectly, I apologize, but I'm not certain I could see it any other way as you quoted my one sentence before accusing it (and thus me) racist.

Last edited by ElDiabloJoe; 12-31-2019 at 04:46 AM.. Reason: Added last sentence and forgot quotes on word "organic" in paragraph 3.

You must be one of the most racist people on here to scream racism because someone doesn’t like a city. The FACT that Bakersfield has some of the worst air quality in the nation, makes me want to stay far away.

That you have to play the race card makes you look completely foolish. I actually pity someone with your mentality.

I’d put you on ignore but you’re far too amusing.
