Don't, Im gonna call you Fres for now on.

Ok, ill check out Windward.

I'm doing my taxes and I just noticed no more Fresno IRS center, instead it goes to Ogden, Utah.

What happened? Looks like they permanently closed the Fresno IRS processing center, 3,000 jobs lost that must have been a huge blow to the community?

Chim, just letting you know that Woodward Park wouldn't be the worst thing to visit in town. I told ya earlier not to visit, but i now think that was a bad suggestion.
Woodward isn't really special but it's very large(almost 2x land park), usually clean, and VERY safe. Car break ins are like the worst you have worry about, but thats an issue in every part of California. Woodward is one of the few large city parks in California without any homeless (they tried to take it over a few years back, but got kicked out!) So if a clean park interests you, give it a go.

Tulare

The old Arthur's toy store(Manchester mall area) is going to be turned into temporary housing after it gets remodeled. Unsure if it becomes mixed use housing.

"The city-owned garage is adjacent to the privately-owned former Gottschalks building. That building has been vacant for decades and is currently owned by a Southern California family.

Local developer Will Dyck previously told GV Wire he is partnering with the old Gottschalks owner to purchase the Spiral Garage and convert it into commercial and residential space."

More housing downtown?

Fresno aquarium manager got interviewed recently. Nothing but lame excuses from him. It's a dead project as long as he's running the show.

Workers have known it was closing for years. Most people are already working new jobs because they had a good warning.
They still have a skeleton crew doing important jobs(200-300?) In Fresno, but Ogden is handling the dwindling paper work part of the job. Losing it would have been a big blow 15 years ago, but today not so much.

Call me don't instead of fres. Just sounds nicer.

Homeless encampments just outside of downtown
Fresno. It's what the mayor wants wiped off the map.
Very few homeless near the river for various reasons. they also prefer being around downtown than in North fresno.

Despite the Federal Reserve’s moves to raise interest rates, Fresno’s housing market is not showing any signs of slowing down in the near future.

Instead, all signs point to the fast-paced marketplace of the last couple years continuing for at least the next several months.

As of Thursday, Fresno County had 486 active listings, which Scordino said is less than one month’s worth of inventory for the region. A normal market has three to six months of inventory.

Interest rate hikes unlikely to quickly cool off Fresno’s hotter-than-ever housing market

March update

402k median price in Fresno
537k median price in Clovis
Edit: numbers seem a little high. I'll try to verify it soon

County numbers aren't out for March, but if these numbers are correct then I'd guess that 410k-415k will be the median price for march.

Looks like the state is about to crack down on polluting jobs in Fresno. And there's going to be a fight on how to spend infrastructure taxes coming up. interesting times in the valley.

I thought people were nuts decades ago buying houses in Patterson, and commuting to bay area or silicon valley.

If this house sells for near or over 400k, gentrification is in full swing in the tower district! House is tiny and shouldn't cost anywhere near 400k

Offer pending after 4 days

Cute mid century for under 500k in South Fresno. Nice lot, solar, and a pool, too
Okay neighborhood that should get gentrified soon

Beautiful day today in the valley.

415k median price for Fresno county
Just as I predicted.

430k for Madera county
Fresno and Madera are seeing the most consistent growth in the lower sjv

369k for Bakersfield

360k Tulare

700k placer county!

Sacramento is barely above Stockton in prices. I wonder if the homeless in Sacramento are keeping prices lower than where they should be. Sacramento should have higher prices, imo.

Fresno is running it's 1st ever garlic festival this year. Maybe they knew that the Gilroy festival was ending. Perfect timing, anyways.

Tower theater is being bought by the city. A Church is threatening to sue the city for buying it from under them(church was blocked from buying it first). Interesting story. Probably a good decision, and worth a lawsuit. City running the theater means no rezoning needs to take place.

Bakersfield real estate company is setting up shop in Fresno. You know things are going well when out of towners try to get in on the market(hi, masterching)

In n out is coming to Madera! It'll be on the 99

Visalia/Tulare county calls Fresno a sprawly mess on their brochure for a city planning conference. Lol
There's definitely truth to that, but Tulare county shouldn't be talking smack about anyone right now.

City of Fresno is going to be planting 10x more trees per year starting in 2023. Focus is going to be underserved communities.

1.6 million dollar custom house for sale in Fresno.
Decent house; looks to be worth the price

Here's what 1.7ish million gets you in Austin, tx --
A tarted up Craftsman house...
1 million seems completely fair, but 1.7 is a joke. Thats likely more costly than a similar east Sacramento house.

Slow couple of days

Armenian genocide memorials happened a couple of days ago. Fresno State had the largest gathering. Looked like a nice tribute.

A Fresno Starbucks is unionizing

Fresno bee ran an article titled
"Tract homes costs $1 million in Fresno, Clovis real estate"
Guessing that's a negative article from the bee. Let me know if you have access to it.

Interesting condo-house is up for sale in North fresno. Comes with a lake, spa, and lap pool.
Could you see yourself throwing some nice parties here, chim?

Edit: A progressive Jewish man won an important school board position in Fresno - Good to see. Republicans talked a big game, but got stomped. Better luck in Clovis

Hiking near Fresno
Don't need to go to the Sierras for some decent hiking
