Back in the news. This project was put on hiatus by a California judge back in April when the court ruled it had not met all the environmental concerns. The primary concern being threat of wildfires.

For those not familiar with where this 19,300 home project is planned. It's basically half way between Bakesfield and Downtown LA. Roughly 50 miles south of Bakersfield on the I-5 and 65 Miles north of downtown LA.

Some of the highlights in the new agreement are:

- 30,000 EV chargers to be installed in and around the development
- provide cash incentives to purchase 10,500 Electric Vehicles
- $500,000 per year in mitigation for fire risk to the community and the same amount annually for neighboring communities.

There's literally nothing there right now. Just hoping to build a city from scratch basically. Should be interesting to see how it goes. Employment opportunities should be pretty robust with Santa Clarita / Newhall only about a 30-45 minute commute and Bakersfield a 45-55min commute and increasing work from home options.

Also arguably the most seismically hazardous spot in the state. And no one can seem to answer the question of where all that electricity or water will come from when we can't even support what we already have.

But that's not where the real money is. But that's another discussion.

I am of the opinion that no new construction of any kind, anywhere in the state should be taking place until those utility issues are pre-emptively addressed. Not "build it, grease the right palms, get them property taxes, then worry about it later", as has been the case since forever.

There are three parts of the Tejon development, Centennial, Mountain Village, and Grapevine. I think only the Grapevine segment was approved.

I’m not sure that is correct. I believe the LA County Board of Supervisors approved the Centennial project.

I don’t think environmental lawsuits would’ve been filed if the project was never approved in the first place as well.

If you build it, they will come. Meanwhile, the rest of us are told to conserve water.

I think the project is divided between LA and Kern counties. I would expect it to be easier to get approval from Kern County.

Centennial falls under LA County the other two fall under Kern County. LA County has already approved the Centennial portion of the project in a 4-1 vote back in 2019. The only hang up after that was the environmental law suit. Three were filed. Two were thrown out by the judge and a deal was just struck on the third law suit.

So all three parts will likely be approved then?

Looks that way. All three have already been approved by county board of supervisors and have now all passed environmental reviews as far as I can tell.
