I love Chico, went there for my BA and have thought about moving back, but what stops me is that I would feel like I'm trying to relive the past by being surrounded by college students that would seem to be getting younger while I seem to be getting OLDER.
Also the job thing is a HUGE deterrent even as a college student looking for a part time minimum wage job was a hard thing to do. So if you have a good transferable career and could look for a job prior to moving there it would be highly advised. I remember the teachers unions were always on strike because they don’t make very much and the nurses had similar complaints. There are a lot of small business owners you could work for but you wouldn’t make much money doing so nor would your be able to grow in the little company. I loved Chico because it wasn’t too intimidating like other college areas such as, San Diego. I grew up in a small commuter town between LA and San Diego and liked the small town feel. I also loved the amount of culture and out door things to do in such a small little town. I miss being able to ride my bike in a fun safe place, and walk from bar to bar back to my apartment or get one of those bicycle guys to take you home for $5.00. My friends who grew up in a small town with me and hated it moved to San Diego and found their nitch. A few of them visited to see if they liked the college and were bored after 1 hour of touring the town. Some felt very isolated since there isn’t much going on in the surrounding rice farms. So if you do get bored and want more city life you end up feeling stifled and frustrated.

Oh and don't forget, it's not almonds, it's ayamonds ... LOL!

Considering it was Herb Caen who tagged Cheeko with that one, & a then Oakland headquartered store (Safeway) who put & advertised Velveeta in gourmet section.

You don't say "sahl-mon", you say "sah-mon", right?

Same thing with almonds.
