Anyone have clarity on the new laws for where the GPS system has to be mounted on the front widshield? Has anyone been pulled over for this law yet? I thought the new law said that the mounting bracket must be on the far left or right post and down as low as possible on the windshield? Obviously another well thought out law! On my vehicle putting the mounting post in the required area creates more of a visual hazard than the current position I've been using. Furthermore, it would interefere with the air vents effectiveness to defrost the windows. What's up?

I just don't think it's enforced. Unless maybe you get pulled over for something else, the cop is grumpy and doesn't like your looks, then maybe they'd bust you by fining you I'd guess. I know lots of folks who have GPS mounted where it's technically not legal, yet I've never heard of anyone ever getting ticketed or pulled over for it.
Go 50 mph over the speed limit with the incorrect mounting of your GPS and see what happens!

just kidding!

Why not call your local police non-emergency number and ask for a clarification of the requirements?

Is this for aftermarket? Because what about cars that come stock with GPS? My cars GPS is built into the Dash. How can they enforce this when all cars with factory Navigation come this way out the factory?

Sorry. The new law means that you need to rip out that dash mounted unit.

As for me I don't need a GPS. Everyone tells me where to go as it is.

Your GPS in the dash is fine. The new law only talks about locations to mount on the winshield, as not to obstruct the drivers view.

.
Actually no, the law does not mean you have to rip out your dash mount, it's just that it has to be mounted in the "correct" place.

Opps, sorry! My bad, I've relied on those darn smilies so much!
I'm so used to certain folks arguing for argument sake despite the facts, that clearly I skimmed it! <<<see?
